Health Solutions

​​Health Solutions works ​to improve Veteran health status and outcomes by identifying, assessing and reporting on various populations of Veterans along with factors and interventions influencing their health. Health Solutions:

arrow Manages the Clinical Case Registries (CCR):  CCR is a population health management tool that allows providers to run customized reports on 52 different populations. It is available to any VA health care provider with CPRS access. This management tool gives frontline VA clinical staff the information they need to improve Veteran care.

arrow Electronic Health Record (EHR), HealtheRegistries:  Works with Cerner staff in the development and implementation of HealtheRegistries in the new EHR. HealtheRegistries includes over 200 measures of quality of care including general preventive care as​ well as condition specific metrics.  HealtheRegistries is a tool VA health care providers can use to view and address recommended health needs of their Veteran population as of a point in time.

Electronic Health Record (EHR), Health Maintenance:  Works with Cerner staff in the development and implementation of Health Maintenance in the new EHR. Health Maintenance is the provider interface to close care gaps identified by HealtheRegistries.

arrowElectronic Health Record (EHR), HealtheCare:  Works with Cerner staff in the development and implementation of HealtheCare in the new EHR. HealtheCare provides for coordinated care management for high risk populations.

arrow COVID-19 Vaccination Validation Reporting:  Health Solutions leads a broad clinical and technical coalition of VA program offices to send data daily to the CDC about the 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered by VA. This data is integral to national vaccine distribution efforts. The CDC frequently commends VA publicly on the high quality of the data.  ​

Access to VHA Clinical Programs for Veterans Participating in State-Approved Marijuana Programs Directive:  Working in conjunction with the Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Health Solutions responds to queries from Congress, Veterans and VA staff regarding the directive.​​


Health Solutions - Spotlights

Health Registry

Health Solutions initiated a HealtheRegistry—Performance Measures Crossmatch Effort. The purpose and intent of this effort is to cross-reference and synchronize Oracle / Cerner HealtheRegistries' measures with the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture’s (VistA) performance measures.

Health Solutions initiated twice weekly HealtheRegistry office hours serving Oracle / Cerner end users at both VA and Department of Defense (DoD) facilities to promote optimal utilization of HealtheRegistries measures and recommendations. The team established an open forum where end users can learn more about how to navigate HealtheRegistries, complete Power Forms, satisfy recommendations and build population health reports. Office hours were fundamentally established as an opportunity for questions and answers (Q&A), offering virtual training demonstrations as needed.

Connect VA to CDC's IZ Gateway

Health Solutions continued leading efforts to connect VA to the CDC’s IZ Gateway, which allows VA immunization data to automatically and electronically flow to state / local Immunization Information Systems (IIS). In FY22, VA was able to begin reporting VA-administered vaccinations in near real-time to 16 states / jurisdictions through the IZ Gateway. This impacts Veterans, providers, and the community by enabling a more comprehensive understanding of the Veteran’s health status, enhancing Veteran safety, and promoting efficient and coordinated care.
